The U.S. Department of Justice is pushing Portland Police to equip officers with body-worn cameras. The request is one of several changes that DOJ lawyers want the city to make in order to satisfy a 2014 settlement agreement over police reform. Justice Department lawyers on Friday issued the city a formal notice of non-compliance with its 2014 settlement agreement - the first time it has taken that step since U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon approved the agreement seven years ago.
