City gets social with virtual public forums - Roswell Daily Record

Hoping for more engagement with the public, the city of Roswell took a more social approach in launching its 2021 virtual public forums Thursday night.
In past years, the city has conducted its public forums with in-person events at various locations around the city. The pandemic and restrictions on public gatherings caused the city to change its tactics in 2020, rescheduling the forums to an online venue through virtual meeting software GoToMeeting. Questions were submitted prior to the forum through an online survey or through the software’s chat function.
This year, the city is conducting the forums on its social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and YouTube on a talk-show type of set. The forum was livestreamed on Facebook and Instagram and is available to watch on the city’s YouTube channel. ....

City plans new series of virtual public forums - Roswell Daily Record

The city of Roswell has planned a series of 10 virtual public forums for 2021, beginning Thursday, Feb. 18, with an open discussion focusing on Ward 5, which covers a large portion of the southern part of the city.
The city launched virtual public forums last year amid restrictions on in-person gatherings that were put in place by the state as a result of the pandemic. The virtual public forums are designed to help keep Roswell’s citizens and their city administration connected and able to stay informed about and discuss topics important to the community.
Hosted by City Manager Joe Neeb, each forum will feature appropriate experts from the various city departments. Some forums will cover specific topics while others will be open discussions focused on a particular ward of the city. ....

City manager offers apology for water billing issues - Roswell Daily Record

City Manager Joe Neeb offered an apology at Thursday night’s Roswell City Council meeting for the problems the city has had with its new water billing system and said further adjustments would take another two months.
“We are working diligently to try to get this thing rectified and get this fixed. Nobody should have to deal with this and we apologize for that,” Neeb said.
The issue has been updating from what Neeb called an “archaic” analog billing system to a new digital system, which the city began in December. He likened it to upgrading from the video game “Pong,” the 1972 ping-pong themed game with simple black and white graphics to “Minecraft,” the three-dimensional world-creating game popular today. ....
