Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe appointed to Commission on Jail Standards Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe By KCBD Staff | April 7, 2021 at 9:55 AM CDT - Updated April 7 at 9:55 AM AUSTIN, Texas (KCBD) - Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Sheriff Pinky Gonzales and Ross Reyes and reappointed Sheriff Kelly Rowe to the Commission on Jail Standards for terms set to expire January 31, 2027. The commission establishes standards for the care and treatment of county prisoners, construction, maintenance and operation of county jails. Pinky Gonzales of Refugio is the Refugio County Sheriff, and previously served as a State Game Warden with Texas Parks & Wildlife. He is the vice president of the Coastal Bend Peace Officer Association and Seargeant of Arms for the Regional Sheriffs Alliance. He is a board member of the Gulf Bent MHMR and volunteers as a member of the Lions Club. Sheriff Gonzales attended the Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden Academy. ....
Refugio County Sheriff Raul “Pinky” Gonzales is one of three people who has been tapped to serve on the state’s Commission on Jail Standards. The commission sets standards for the care and treatment of county prisoners, construction, maintenance and operation of county jails. Gov. Greg Abbott announced the appointment on Wednesday. Gonzales previously served as a state game warden with Texas Parks & Wildlife. He also is vice president of the Coastal Bend Peace Officer Association and Sergeant of Arms for the Regional Sheriffs Alliance. Abbott also reappointed Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe to the commission. Rowe has been sheriff since 2009 and was re-elected in November. He began his career in law enforcement in 1993 with the Midland County Sheriff’s Office, then was hired by Lubbock County in 1999. He is the 1st vice president of the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, past president of the Texas Jail Association, and chairman of TEEX Criminal Justice Acade ....
