PORT Glasgow mechanics stepped in to help move a historic piece of firefighting equipment. The team from Auto-Tec were on hand to support the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service Heritage Trust when a manual pump from their museum at Greenock Municipal Buildings was damaged. Members of the Trust were moving the old manual engines back into the courtyard after work on the council s boiler flue has finished. Movement over cobbles, coupled with indoor storage, resulted in damage to a wheel on the Rossie Priory manual six-man horse drawn pump. The Trust asked the team at Auto Tec to help and within an hour, a lorry-mounted crane and a forklift skilfully moved the pump to the top of the tunnel. ....
