Dianne Willson, who found the wallet, told us there was nothing valuable in it, just the 2 identification cards. As you can see below, one is a library card and an ID for the John F. Kennedy Middle School of the Utica School District.

Wilson told us that she found the wallet at the Erie Canal Village.
10 years ago or more the Erie Canal Village was open to the public for educational purposes and field trips. We found the wallet next to the building that used to be a farmer museum. ....

Utica, N.Y. - On Thursday we told you about an elaborate scam that Rome Police say duped an elderly Rome woman out of $9,000, now State Police say the same thing has happened to two other elderly people here in Central New York, and for even more money.
That Rome woman we told you about on Thursday wasn t alone in doing what she could to help whom she thought was her own grandchild and State Police say two other grandparents have also gotten taken trying to help their grandchildren, one was taken for $9,800 and the other for $15,000, all in cash. ....

Rome Police are warning the public after a recent score by crooks who conned a local grandparent out of $9,000 in cash. And, they re hoping someone has security or doorbell camera footage that will help identify at least one of the thieves.

According to Rome Police, the victim received phone call from a young girl who claimed to be the victim s granddaughter, and correctly used the granddaughters first name. The phony grandchild claimed she was involved in car accident and was in the custody of troopers and was calling from a local holding facility . Then, a man got on the phone identifying himself as Mr. Bateman , explaining he was the girl s attorney and would need $9,000 to bail the girl out. ....
