Oneida County vaccination rates rise as new COVID-19 cases fall Observer-Dispatch Just about half of adults (12 and older) in Oneida County are vaccinated, county officials said Tuesday, citing the New York State Department of Health’s COVID-19 tracker. According to the tracker, 49% of adults in Oneida County are vaccinated, while 56% have received at least one vaccination dose. A total of 97,225 adults in the county have completed the vaccination series, according to the tracker, while 111,255 have received at least one dose. Oneida County releases its vaccination numbers from its county-operated vaccination sites once a week, typically on Mondays. This week’s vaccination numbers, along with the COVID-19 numbers, run through Monday night due to the Memorial Day holiday. ....

Rome police officers were called on Wednesday, May 19, to check the welfare of the residents at a home on McAvoy Avenue. The officers found a 2-year-old girl home alone, and contacted Oneida County Child Protective Services. For two hours, officers waited for a parent, guardian or other adult to arrive, but nobody came. Police then took the girl to Rome Health to be evaluated before placing her in CPS custody. ....
