Sunny skies and warm temperatures are getting people outdoors to capture some colourful scenes of the season this week. Many blossoms are peaking in Okanagan orchards this week, as evidenced by these images captured by South Okanagan photographers Meghann Fletcher and Ron Hiller. Even the birds seem to be enjoying the weather as Shae Fischer caught a local quail, seemingly with a spring in its step, above. Jason Foster captured these Arrowleaf balsam root (Okanagan sunflowers) coming soon to a hillside near you recently posting the photo to Kamloops photographers Facebook page. ....
Image Credit: Photo by Ron Hiller February 10, 2021 - 6:30 AM There is a most unusual sight awaiting motorists travelling Highway 3 east of Osoyoos as Valentine’s Day approaches. Near the top of Anarchist Mountain is Osoyoos Mountain Estates, a residential development accessed by a number of roads branching off of Highway 3. The development roads are named after local wildlife, such as Bighorn Estates, Raven Hill estates, etc. They are easily identified by life-like statues of bighorn sheep, cougar, mule deer, bull moose, etc., located at the intersections of the subdivision roads and Highway 3. One neighbourhood is named after a well-known but more mythical creature - Sasquatch Trail. ....
No changes to Harbor Beach board of education Rich Harp, For the Tribune Jan. 25, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail HARBOR BEACH There will be no changes to the Harbor Beach Board of Education s officers this year. During the district s organizational meeting Jan. 20, the board unanimously voted to keep the same officers in place, with Ron Hiller as board president, Allan Booth as vice-president, Paul Hunter as treasurer and Nancy Krueger as secretary. Huron Intermediate School District accountant Stacey Viers attended the meeting to give the first budget amendment for the 2020-2021 school year. Viers, who acts as the Harbor Beach chief financial officer, projected a $98,000 increase in district revenues over the original budget. ....
