Ferry trips to and from Prince of Wales Island will be a little bit more expensive starting later this month. The Inter-Island Ferry Authority says it’s hiking its rates for people who buy their tickets in person, over the phone or by email.
IFA General Manager Ron Curtis says a 6% surcharge on online ferry reservations means it’s currently cheaper to call or email the office or purchase a ticket in person. ....

Today’s obituary: Joan Ezzo, 92, wife of TV anchor Ron Curtis
Updated May 11, 2021;
Joan A. (Bierhardt) Ezzo, 92, of Syracuse, died Saturday.
She was a graduate of the Fayetteville-Manlius school district and the Powelson Business Institute in Syracuse, according to her obituary.
Ezzo did secretarial work in Manhattan and Palm Beach. She returned to Syracuse, where she worked at the Coolican Advertising Agency. While working there, she met her husband Ronald Ezzo, WTVH Channel 5 news anchorman Ron Curtis. He died in 2001.
Ezzo was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Holy Family Church in Syracuse.
For more than 25 years, she volunteered at Community General Hospital. ....
