Remembrance ceremony planned for Hall of Fame broadcaster Ron Arnold

A Celebration of Life service has been announced for Hall of Fame Distinguished Broadcaster Ron Arnold. He died of complications from COVID-19 on Christmas Eve at age 87. A remembrance was delayed because of the pandemic. It is now planned for Saturday, April 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Parkside Lutheran Church in North Buffalo. Arnold enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 and was shot while serving in Korea, earning him a Purple Heart.

During the Tuesday meeting of the Daviess County Commissioners, outgoing commissioner Tom McCracken and Daviess County Treasurer Elaine Wellman were honored for their years of service. Wellman, who served two terms as the Washington Clerk-Treasurer, took over as county treasurer following the death of Martin Mumaw. She filled out his term and then served a full term as treasurer before deciding not to run this fall.
