The sense of community help continues to be present in Hamburg and recently Giving Wednesday has opened up space for a community garden.
Lana Brandt, one of the organizers of Giving Wednesday, said the garden has come together thanks to volunteers.
The plants and vegetables that will grow as a result of volunteers hard work will be given back to the community.
Giving Wednesday is an outreach program that started last Spring by Hamburg First United Methodist Church and United Trinity Church. The project consists of collecting donated food, taking it to the Food Pantry, or to families in need. ....

ST. LOUIS For about 36 hours this week, the St. Louis police department tried to do what it could to treat 17-year-olds as children. 
A new law known as Raise the Age was supposed to take effect statewide Jan. 1, increasing the age of those eligible for adult charges from 17 to 18.
Only a handful of states still put 17-year-olds in adult criminal justice systems.  ....

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. We shouldn’t even know his name let alone the crimes he’s been accused of committing.
That’s because Tyrell Jones is 17 years old.
And, according to a law that took effect Jan. 1, he and others his age should be in Missouri’s juvenile system where most of the accusations against them are shielded from public view. ....
