In a letter titled A Path Forward, signed by more than 200 organizations, community leaders, academics, artists and musicians, the advocates ask Tory to put the letter on the agenda of Wednesday s city council meeting and to adopt its 15 recommendations. ....
More firefighters headed to the South Cariboo SHARE ON: 100 Mile House is getting extra support in its battle against the wildfires in the region. Several new firefighters have arrived from two groups, the BC Wildfire Firefighters and the Structural Firefighters. “A list goes out at the beginning of each year to the Fire Departments all across BC and firefighters can put their names down to be sent out to towns that need support,” said Fire Chief Roger Hollander..” More help is expected over the next few days to help control the fires that are near 100 Mile House. ....
Fire at Fraser Mill (100 Mile Fire Rescue) 100 Mile House Fire Rescue received a call about black smoke coming from the mill’s yard Friday afternoon (June 25). Fire Chief Roger Hollander said smoke and fire were coming from the engine of the loader in a chip pile. Hollander added the mill’s staff got some of the blaze out with a fire extinguisher. Fire Rescue used foam to suppress the vapors. There was some fuel that got on the chip piles from the fire extinguisher, which started small spot fires on them. Damage estimate is not available and there were no reported injuries. ....

Hard Work Paid Off For Some 100 Mile Fire Rescue Members SHARE ON: (supplied by 100 Mile House Fire-Rescue/Facebook) After two years of training and studying, 8 members of the 100 Mile Fire Rescue received their NFPA 1001 Fire Fighting 1 and 2 certificates. Fire Chief Roger Hollander said all their hard work and dedication over that period of time really paid off for them and the department. “So hundreds of hours that these firefighters put in their time and effort that is our standard within this particular department, and we’re very, very pleased and excited that 8 of our paid-on-call members achieved this fantastic level and that brings our department up to more than half of our members at that level so it’s a professional qualification and we’re very proud of them.” ....
