FOLLOWING its recent launch, new fell running website: Run the Dales is taking fell running off the fells and into two of the Dales’ best loved museums. Continuing throughout the entire summer across two venues, the unique exhibition opens at the newly refurbished Grade I listed The Folly Museum, Settle, on May 18 (you are advised to double check this date before travelling), before relocating to the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, on July 23, where it will run until September 26. Sponsored by the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Great Place: Lakes and Dales, the Run the Dales Exhibition is a vibrant celebration of fell running along with some of its biggest and best loved champions, and the country fairs, sports and shows that host the 40 plus annual races across the region throughout the year. ....
Albert Street, Rowley Collection While it was grand to note that auctioneer John Pallister (letters March 25) is still in good blow, I am not so sure whether or not I needed to be reminded of my time in Skipton Parish Church choir. However, John s mention of what some of us got up to after being let loose from choir practice around 8.30pm to 9pm might at least have prompted a huge smile from three humble ladies high above . The McGlincy sisters lived on one of the - now demolished - houses near the top of Albert Street which was invariably on our target list of yards and streets off Skipton High Street where, as primary school kids after choir practice, would run up one alley and down the next - knocking loudly on every door. Then, about 10 minutes later, we would come round again. ....
