In December of 1993, at the beginning of his junior season at Seton Hall, Dan Hurley had had enough of his personal demons and decided to do something about it.
He called a press conference in the back room at Dohoney’s tavern on West Side Avenue in Jersey City, and invited several local beat reporters. Hurley felt comfortable at Dohoney’s because it was owned by Ed Ford, a longtime Jersey City character who was commonly known as “The Faa” and was the best man at the wedding of Hurley’s parents, Bob and Chris. ....

Floyd, a junior at Roselle Catholic in New Jersey, is the Huskies’ first Class of 2022 commit.
“The atmosphere there, I fell in love with it,” Floyd told Hearst Connecticut Media. “The fans are 100-percent into it all. The coaching staff is great, they recruited me and my family as a whole. They pitched me the big picture, and I just loved it.”
Floyd, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound combo guard, hopes to have an immediate impact when he arrives on campus in 2022.
“If I stay the course and continue to be aggressive, continue to have the ‘dog’ mentality, I can be an instant impact from Day One,” he said. ....

When Ithiel Horton committed to Delaware out of Roselle Catholic High School more than three years ago, it appeared he would spend his college career playing at the mid-major level.
But three years later, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound guard from Vauxhall is expected to play a big role for Pittsburgh after becoming eligible following a sit-out year last season due to NCAA transfer rules. He became an even more important piece for the Panthers after the team’s leading scorer, Justin Champagnie, went down for 6-8 weeks with a knee injury. Champagnie, a native of Brooklyn who is the twin brother of St. John’s wing Julian Champagnie, was averaging 17.8 points and 12.3 rebounds per game while shooting 49 percent from the field. ....
