Dodgers news: Mookie Betts is competitive, even with cooking

Mookie Betts was one of several stars in various fields interviewed by GQ for something called The Happiness Project, with tips and tricks from folks like Betts, Phoebe Bridgers, Anthony Hopkins, Drew Barrymore, Tracy Morgan, Roxanne Gay, and others on “finding joy in tough times.”
But mostly, I just want SportsNet LA to start televising cooking episodes with Betts and his family.
Here he is, describing various ways he and his family are competitive in nature:
The cooking contest, I think I’ve only lost one, and we’ve probably had 20 or 30 of them. We do them all the time. What we do is, we will call another family member and ask them for three random ingredients. Basically “Chopped,” but at home. And usually two-on-two. One time we did lemon, popcorn, and pumpkin. I think we made, like, a little pizza situation, and it was layered with popcorn and pumpkin, and it had, like, lemony sauce. It was the best that it could hav ....

Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton faced a barrage of criticism on three occasions amid a wave of riots and a global pandemic. Yet Cotton’s allegedly controversial opinions have been largely vindicated by recent events.
As a flurry of racial justice protests turned from peaceful democratic demonstrations to violent riots, Cotton penned an immediately controversial Op-Ed. In a piece published June 3 by the New York Times, Cotton argued that President Donald Trump should invoke the Insurrection Act to restore order in parts of the country set aflame by outrage and opportunism. Cotton argued that rioters were effectively encouraged by elites who labeled it an “understandable response to the death of George Floyd.” ....

COMMENTARY: Reflecting on Capitol riot, America

Reflecting on what I can only call a blatant attack on democracy last week as pro-Trump rioters stormed the Capitol, I can’t help but think how the outcome would’ve been different had the rioters looked different.
As the group of violent protestors broke into the Capitol on Wednesday, they were met by Capitol Police, but videos show officers opening up gates to allow them to get closer to the buildings. Some videos and photos even show officers taking selfies with rioters.
Can you imagine if the rioters had been mostly Black? Can you imagine if they had been Native American? Can you imagine if they had been largely Muslim? I think they would’ve been met with brute military-style force. I think the outcome would’ve been far more deadly. But they were largely Anglo. It’s time — again — to reckon with how differently law enforcement treat people of color and with how news organizations would’ve framed this event had the rioters looked d ....
