On behalf of the City of Carlsbad, we wish to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Roque Garcia, a former New Mexico State Police Officer who spent his entire career serving and protecting the citizens of Carlsbad and the surrounding area. Roque passed away over the past weekend and he will be greatly missed. As an officer, Roque was always willing to go beyond the call of duty to help provide extra assistance and counseling to residents. We will be dedicating a special day in his memory. We have received a new report on New Mexico’s Labor Market Review for March of 2021. New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 8.3 percent, which is the same as what is was the previous month. Unemployment in Eddy County, meanwhile, dropped from 7.7 percent last month to 7.3 percent this month. We are still not where we were at this time last year (3.6 percent), but numbers are moving in the right direction. ....
