Shouting “We want choices, hear our voices,” dozens of protesters marched in front of the South Orange-Maplewood schools administration building Saturday morning, calling for students and teachers to return to in-person instruction by the end of January amid the coronavirus pandemic. The group, dubbed SOMA For Safe Return To School, started a petition that calls for in-person instruction five days a week for elementary and special education students by Jan. 19. Kate Walker, a co-founder of the group, would like to see all grade levels return to in-person learning, but said younger students and those with special needs should be a priority. ....
