A mum-of-five has spoken of her family’s joy after spotting an unusual bird whilst on a walk in the city.

They spotted it perched on a drainpipe at St Edmund s Church on Fishergate, Norwich.
The bird has been identified by experts as a white blackbird, also known as an albino blackbird. ....

To see a mockingbird: birdwatchers fined for breaking Covid rules

Five birdwatchers have been fined for breaking Covid-19 restrictions after they travelled to Devon to try to see a rare specimen after a Twitter tipoff.
They were looking to catch sight of a northern mockingbird, normally found in North America, which had been spotted by Exmouth resident Chris Biddle.
Biddle shared pictures on Twitter on 6 February of a bird in his garden along with the caption: “Spotted this little chap in our garden in Exmouth over the last few days, mainly in the holly and palm flowers. We think a northern mockingbird, any ideas?” ....

Birders in camo mistaken for terrorists in Gorham

GORHAM â When out-of-town bird-watching enthusiasts dressed in camouflage and carrying long-lens cameras drove into town on Sunday to see flocks of Bohemian waxwings eating crab apples, at least one local resident suspected them of being domestic terrorists.
The New Hampshire Audubon s Rare Bird Alert for Jan. 4, which was reposted by a member of the NHBirds Google Groups page (not Govatski), mentioned a sighting of Bohemian waxwings in Gorham.
The birders were seen on Main and Mechanic Streets.
âA Mechanic Street resident saw some folks in camo with long-lens cameras walking down the street,â said David Govatski of Jefferson, a retired WMNF forester and avid birder who posts sightings online on NHBirds and eBird Hotspot Explorer. ....
