Two sub-inspectors and a constable were suspended for laxity on Wednesday following the alleged gangrape case of a 13-year-old girl and the death of her father in a road accident. The action was taken against the three cops after they were found guilty in a preliminary inquiry by the Ghatampur circle officer, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kanpur Preetinder Singh said.

The brazen murder of a rape survivor’s father is extremely disturbing. Considering that the accused happens to be a cop, the case must be pursued without any prejudice or slackness. Like Caesar’s wife, the police should be above suspicion.
