26 Apr 2021 AWARD WINNER: Kirsty McLachlan A HOST of Teesdale youngsters have been recognised for their achievements in the 2021 Young People’s Award Ceremony. County Durham Youth Council, which includes young people aged 11 to 19, aims to give them a voice in decision making. The annual awards ceremony, which was run over five days via social media, highlighted some of the achievements of youngsters in the county. Leah Merrington, youth council member, said: “The young people’s awards look at recognising and celebrating the achievements of young people and also the workers who help to support them.” More than 150 nominations in 11 categories were received and judges had a difficult time in whittling down the winners. ....
8 Apr 2021 SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY: Rachel Tweddle, chief executive of the TCR Hub, with daughter Amelia Robinson and some of the thousands of care packages that have been distributed during the past year THE search is on for someone to co-ordinate one of the most successful lockdown support projects. More than 5,000 care packages have been distributed across the dale by staff and volunteers at The TCR Hub, in Barnard Castle, since the scheme was launched during the first national lockdown. The project is continuing into a second year and funding has been secured to for someone to co-ordinate and develop The Hub s food provision. ....

Teesdale Action Partnership (TAP) has allocated £26,000 to the Teesdale care packages project which is run by staff and volunteers based at the TCR Hub, in Barnard Castle. The project was established during the first lockdown, almost a year ago and has received huge support from the community. Care packages continue to be delivered weekly on Wednesdays and Saturday to about 100 households across the dale. ....
