Lafayette man to serve 80 years hard labor for manslaughter

A Lafayette man pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 80 years hard labor after killing two people, according to the district attorney s office.
Joseph Delahoussaye was accused of killing Bobby BJ Duplechin and Rachael Alexander. Delahoussaye pleaded guilty Wednesday in front of 15th Judicial District Court Judge Valerie Gotch Garrett to two counts of manslaughter and one count of armed robbery in Duplechin s death.
Lafayette Parish Sheriff s deputies responded to a reported suicide on Sept. 2, 2016, but later determined Alexander s death was a homicide and charged Delahoussaye.
In exchange for his plea, Delahoussaye will serve 40 years of hard labor consecutively for each count of manslaughter. Additionally, he will serve 80 years of hard labor for the armed robbery, which will run concurrently with the manslaughter charges. ....

A Lafayette man has entered a guilty plea for manslaughter in the deaths of two people, one in 2016 and another in 2017 and has been sentenced.
The 15th Judicial District Attorney s Office announced Thursday, April 15, that Joseph Delahoussaye entered that plea on one count of Manslaughter in the death of Racheal Alexander and one count of Manslaughter and Armed Robbery in the death of Bobby BJ Duplechain.
District Attorney Donald Landry says that in exchange for his pleas of guilty, Delahoussaye was sentenced to 40 years Hard Labor on each count of Manslaughter, with each of those terms to run consecutively (for a total of 80 years), along with 80 years Hard Labor on the count of Armed Robbery. ....

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Lowndes County Schools is snapping for its 2020-21 Lowndes High School Poetry Out Loud winners.
Senior Rachael Alexander and runner-up, senior Kristen Alexander were declared the winners.
The South Georgia Regional Poetry Out Loud competition will be held via video submission later this month.
