The Community Foundation of Fayette County (CFFC) is accepting grant applications for up to $1,000 from the Emergency Relief Fund. The fund was created in 2020 to provide grants to nonprofit organizations serving Fayette County that were responding to the immediate needs of the community due to COVID-19. âMany nonprofits were in survival mode during the height of the pandemic, and there are still lasting effects and challenges. Thanks to the generosity of the Eberly Foundation, CFFC is offering another round of funding from the Emergency Relief Fund,â said Renee Couser, CFFC executive director. To be eligible to apply, organizations must be classified as a 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1), 509(a)(2), 509(a)(3), or unit of government and either be located in Fayette County or provide services to Fayette County residents. ....

Two years ago Ken Glozer set up a donor advisory fund and provided $25,000 for the purpose of making a $5,000 annual scholarship to a financially needy Uniontown High School student wanting to attend a junior college or technical institute instead of a four-year college. Glozer is a member of the 1959 class of Uniontown High School and went on to a career as a federal bank examiner, a career servant in the Office of Management & Budget in the White House under six presidents, and created a successful consulting firm in Washington, D.C. for Fortune 500 companies. ....

Fayette Gives is accepting applications from local nonprofits that want to participate in the countyâs second one-day online giving event. The first Fayette Gives, held in November and hosted by the Community Foundation of Fayette County, raised $292,423 for the 42 participating charities. While this yearâs event wonât be held until Nov. 16, CFFC Communications and Grantmaking Coordinator Rebecca Wardle encouraged nonprofits to begin submitting applications. âWeâre eager to see both charities who participated last year and charities who are new to Fayette Gives, especially now that we had a successful first year and people have become familiar with it,â she said. ....
