ADDIS ABABA - The UN s humanitarian chief on Tuesday condemned dangerous accusations by Ethiopian government officials that aid workers were biased in favour of and even arming rebel forces in war-hit Tigray.
Martin Griffiths also called for access to allow desperately needed aid into the northern region where the UN says hundreds of thousands of people are suffering from famine.
Blanket accusations of humanitarian aid workers need to stop, he told a press conference at the end of a six-day visit to Ethiopia, his first mission in his new role.  ....

The United Nations (UN) s top aid official has denounced as dangerous the accusations by Ethiopia s federal government that aid workers are favoring and even arming rebel forces in the country s conflict-ridden region of Tigray.
UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths made the remark at a press conference in Ethiopia s capital, Addis Ababa, on Tuesday, which was held at the end of his six-day visit to the Horn of Africa country. ....

At least 30 bodies float down river between Ethiopia's ...

KHARTOUM, Aug 2 (Reuters) - At least 30 corpses have washed up on the Sudanese banks of a river that abuts Ethiopia s northern region of Tigray, according to two Ethiopian refugees and four Sudanese witnesses who told Reuters on Monday they had retrieved the bodies.
The bodies were found in the Setit River, known in Ethiopia as the Tekeze, which is the current de facto borderline between territory controlled by Tigrayan forces and those controlled by Amhara forces allied with Ethiopia s federal government.
At a different point the river also separates Sudan from Ethiopia.
Dr. Tewodros Tefera, a surgeon who escaped from the Ethiopian border town of Humera, told Reuters he buried 10 bodies over the past six days in Sudan and was told by local fishermen and refugees another 28 had been recovered, including seven on Monday. ....
