Housing developments to blame for rodent 'infestation'

Belinda Mackie of Redbank Plains spoke exclusively with the
Queensland Times this week, revealing an apparent spike in rat sightings at her property over recent weeks.
It all started a few months ago when one random rat would run across my back fence, but it would always go into my neighbor s yard, she explained.

But then it started coming out and appearing in my backyard during the day, which I thought was really weird.
Just last week she located one of the rodents underneath her couch, while incessant scratching noises came from her roof.
It didn t really concern my until a few nights ago when I started to realise they were coming out around my place every night, Ms Mackie said. ....

UPDATE, 6.30pm: Police have reopened a Redbank Plains road to motorists following an earlier operation.
Multiple units reportedly swarmed a Martin Place property on Thursday afternoon to execute a search warrant.
It is understood one person was taken into custody.
A Queensland Police spokesperson was unable to provide further detail.
INITIAL, 4pm: Multiple police units have this afternoon swarmed a Redbank Plains property to execute a search warrant.
It is understood officers arrived at the Martin Place address about 1.30pm on Thursday.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said the warrant had been executed in relation to an ongoing investigation. ....

'DEATH TRAP': Fatal crash renews calls for safety review

CONCERNED residents of Redbank Plains are calling for drastic measures to improve the road safety of Mount Juillerat Drive.
It comes little more than a week after a fatal collision involving a truck and vehicle which left a 35-year-old woman dead.
While investigations into the crash continue, many locals have since taken to social media in a bid to highlight the roadâs apparent dangers.
Joshua Watts was among the many residents to voice his concerns.
He said a major issue was the lack of right-hand turns near the 7-Eleven service station on Mount Juillerat Dr and at nearby traffic lights. ....

New equipment, more lighting to improve popular park

Some existing playground equipment will also be removed and replaced.
An Ipswich City Council spokesman said on Monday that works were being undertaken as part of council’s annual asset rehabilitation program.
Residents were notified of the works by Ipswich City Council last month.
“Council identified that the rubber soft fall and play area needed replacement so scheduled that in and are also taking the opportunity to complete other needed repairs,” he said.
Residents in the surrounding area were notified of the works last month.
