Sarah Freedman, Correspondent SHERBORN The Sherborn Select Board reopened and closed the warrant for the 2021 Annual Town Meeting, including several articles such as one for the design and construction of Laurel Fields, an artificial turf field, and consideration of the acquisition of the property at 31 Hunting Lane. They passed a motion to adopt the warrant according to any changes based on votes made that night. Recreation Commission member Gavin Mish answered some concerns raised at the March 18 meeting. He addressed the recyclability of the turf material, noting that the crumb rubber, which is produced from tire rubber, would otherwise end up in landfills. ....

Council to continue talk about turf project Tuesday, February 2, 2021 11:44 PM City DELPHOS Council expressed interest in continued discussion of the synthetic turf project at Stadium Park. Interim Parks and Rec Committee Chair Jeff Klausing brought the issue to the floor at Monday’s meeting to gauge his fellow councilmen’s interest in the project. The Park and Rec Committee and the remainder of council met with Champions Field, Inc., on Jan. 22 and learned the group has already raised more than $800,000 toward the nearly $1 million project to replace the natural grass field at Stadium Park with turf. Norwalk’s financial chief has advised Common Council members not to fund a new welcome center for Norwalk Public Schools this year. He also recommends saying “no” to funding the Silvermine Elementary School driveway, bathroom renovations and the cafeteria work that’s been planned. Instructional technology should also be a no, as far as Chief Financial Officer Henry Dachowitz is concerned. Dachowitz, in his recommended capital budget, warned that Norwalk’s triple A bond rating would be jeopardized by adding more than $120 million to the City’s existing debt. The City is working to delay and spread out its projects, he said. ....
