Photograph by John Kelly Mountshannon Arts turns to poetry as it steers a route through restrictions of the pandemic April 22, 2021 NEW Directions, Maps and Journeys are the themes of Poetry Day and the inspiration behind a project being undertaken by Mountshannon Arts, as the community organisation reflects on its 25-year history. Poetry Day takes place on Thursday, April 29. Poet Róisín Bugler notes that it will also mark the first outing this year for Moutshannon Arts, whose festival has been inspiring and entertaining audiences from East Clare and far further afield, for a quarter of a century. ....
WSO spring concert moved to June 12 (3/17/2021) In consideration of public health and current limitations on in-person events, the Winona Symphony Orchestra (WSO) has moved its spring concert, originally scheduled for March 27, to Saturday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. At this concert, the WSO welcomes members of the Apollo Music Festival in Houston, Minn., as featured soloists. The program includes “Rissolty Rossolty” by Ruth Crawford Seeger, “Serenade in D” by Ethel Smyth, and “Triple Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Piano in C Major, Op. 56” by Ludwig van Beethoven. Featured soloists for the concerto are Roy Meyer, violin, Ruth Marshall, cello, and Garret Ross, piano. ....
Royal Caribbean Group re-joins the UK Chamber of Shipping The UK Chamber of Shipping is delighted to announce Royal Caribbean Group, the owner of three global cruise holiday brands: Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Silversea, and one of the world’s largest cruise operators, has re-joined the Chamber. The Chamber has welcomed a range of new organisations recently and now has almost 200 members. It is the voice of the UK shipping industry working with Government, parliament, international organisations and others to champion and protect the industry on behalf of its members. During Covid the industry has worked together incredibly closely and the UK Chamber of Shipping has produced a set of framework documents for cruise ship operators to implement new measures with enhanced public health protection and to inform the safe return of cruising when conditions allow. ....
