Bye, Netlix. Hello, movie theater! For the first time in over a year, the Roxie, San Francisco s most iconic indie film venue, is opening for IRL showings.
Plus, there are several concerts on this week s lineupâthink Dirty Cello at Brooklyn Basin and The Mother Hips in Big Sur; brews on tap at Harmonic Brewing s new waterfront taproom; comedian Lewis Black at Litquake; sweet shoe deals at the Freda Salvador sample sale; and a good old fashioned NoLa-style crawfish boil.
“We still wear masks and practice social distancing inside the church,” said San Francisco resident Carlo Reinares.
People’s temperatures were checked at the door and with the city now in the orange tier. The church could be filled to 50 percent capacity.
Other churches were offering virtual and outdoor services as well. “I been searching for the activities for easter and I went online”
In Walnut Creek, Gemma Wilson and her family came to the Ruth Bancroft garden, where kids took part in a scavenger hunt. The easter bunny was even in attendance.

Bay Area adjusts to new way of life over Easter weekend as virus rules relax

OAKLAND, Calif. - The holiday weekend this spring was dramatically different than last year, as people began feeling more comfortable gathering with others with COVID-19 case rates declining and the number of people getting COVID vaccinations increasing.
In San Francisco, health officials say more than 48% of the adults in the city have received at least one dose of a corona-virus vaccine and 28% are fully vaccinated.
Contra Costa County health officials report 51% of adults have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

The 80-foot-tall artificial Christmas tree, located across the glowing jewelbox that is Macy s, illuminates the heart of the city with tens of thousands of lights. The annual lighting ceremony usually happens with a big party on Black Friday, the first big shopping day of the holiday season. Those celebrations in the past featured live performances by stars like John Legend and Aloe Blacc as well as local acts. This year, there were no crowds but the tree still shines for the city.
