Red Bank To Get New Playground; Flowers Planned At Former Car Wash Site By City Hall Wednesday, March 17, 2021 - by Gail Perry The Red Bank Commissioners accepted two gifts on behalf of the city at the commission meeting Tuesday night.
Patricia Baker of the Red Bank Soddy Daisy Charitable Foundation presented a check for $22,500 to the city for the purpose of assisting in the purchase of equipment for a new playground that will be built next to the Red Bank Community Center. Ms. Baker said that the Foundation was established when Erlanger Hospital purchased the Red Bank Community Hospital many years ago. Proceeds from the investment of the money received from the sale of the hospital is divided between Soddy Daisy and Red Bank and designated to assist the cities in various projects. City Manager Tim Thornbury will bring various equipment that is targeted for different age groups of children to the commissioners, who will decide the kind ....
Red Bank To Have Invocation At Start Of Commission Meetings; All 49 Houses Of Worship Invited To Take Part Wednesday, February 17, 2021 - by Gail Perry The Red Bank Commissioners passed a resolution Tuesday night that adopted a policy to have an invocation at the opening of commission meetings. City Manager Tim Thornbury said he did a survey of all the churches in the city limits of Red Bank, plus those within one mile outside the town in all directions, and found 49 houses of worship. All the churches will be sent a letter to invite them to give an invocation at the commission meetings. ....
Red Bank Could Be Opened Up To Backyard Chickens Wednesday, January 6, 2021 The Red Bank Commission discussed backyard chickens during their Tuesday work session. Mayor Hollie Berry said, “Our current ordinances allow livestock like chickens only on lots over two acres, but right now people are interested in keeping a handful of backyard chickens for eggs. And as you know, most lots in Red Bank are much less than two acres.” City manager Tim Thornbury said he came up with a draft and has submitted it to the city attorney. He told the Commission he wanted to get the consensus of the board. Vice Mayor Stefanie Dalton said she is on-board with the idea of allowing chickens in smaller yards. ....
Red Bank Still Seeking Adequate Green Space To Fulfill Prior Commitment Wednesday, December 16, 2020 - by Gail Perry Red Bank Commissioners, residents and he city manager are anxious to add green space for public use to the city. It started 10 years ago when the city used property that formerly held ball fields to build a new middle school. At the time, an agreement was made with the National Park Service that the recreational property would be replaced with other land that would become recreational in nature.
At the time, three acres out of the 11 on Dayton Boulevard which held the old school, was intended to become a park. ....
