Craven County is coming together for a war on litter

From organizations to politicians to individuals, people are expressing disgust at litter, setting up cleaning sweeps and calling on others to also get involved.
“It looks so bad,” state representative Steve Tyson said. Tyson, who grew up in the area and runs a real estate business, said he is tired of the mounting trash and so he has set up a clean-up day for this Sunday, March 7, in an area around James City.
He said he is hoping for as many volunteers as are willing to turn out, and said he is expecting help from at least a few political leaders in the area. ....

HARLOWE A plea for funds has gotten a good response and the lights in Harlowe will stay on.
Driven by the 2019 bicycling death of Kevin Godette along the unlit Temples Point Road, which connects the Harlowe community to Highway 101, Rufus Carter set up an account with Carteret-Craven Electrical Cooperative to place several streetlights along the stretch of road.
