COVID-19 Testing Sites Rolled Back Due To Decrease In Demand

(Columbia, SC) COVID-19 testing sites are rolling back hours due to a decrease in demand.
The Department of Health and Environmental Control reports over 33-thousand coronavirus tests conducted on February 25th, compared to the testing peak of just over 64-thousand tests on February 3rd.
This led to Reid Chapel AME Church only offering testing from Friday through Sunday, instead of Wednesday through Sunday.
Prisma Health is now changing hours at its hospital testing locations and closing its community-based sites.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The demand for COVID-19 tests is dropping in South Carolina.
Department of Health and Environmental Control
data shows that on Feb. 25, clinics performed 33,499 tests.
This represents a gradual decline since mid-January, and a sharp plunge from the testing peak on Feb. 3 with 64,054 tests.
The drop in demand has translated to a reduction in hours at some testing sites.
In February, Reid Chapel AME Church rolled back its COVID-19 testing site from Wednesday through Sunday to just Friday through Sunday. ....

Barnette died on Monday, Feb. 22. He was 59.
Barnette retired from the university this year and a scholarship was endowed in his name.
Last year, Barnette was diagnosed with Creutzfeld-Jakob disease, an untreatable degenerative brain disorder. He had recently been in hospice care.
Barnette had also served as senior pastor of Brookwood Baptist Church in Birmingham since 2016 and teaching pastor since 2008.
“Jim was a gifted teacher and preacher,” said Brookwood interim Pastor Blake Dempsey. “He blessed our congregation with over 700 sermons in nearly 1,200 services. Beyond his teaching and preaching ministry, Jim befriended many, from Mountain Brook to Inglenook to Cape Town, South Africa. His absence is a tremendous loss, but his words of faith and love still linger in our hearts and we are all better off for having known him and having been loved b ....
