Regal movie theaters to open in ABQ, Santa Fe

Rosales/Journal) Five New Mexico Regal movie theaters will reopen on Friday. According to Regal, Albuquerque locations Cottonwood, High Ridge and Winrock 16 are on the list to open. Regal Santa Fe Place, 4250 Cerrillos Road, and Regal Santa Fe, 3474 Zafarano Drive are also slated to open. Reopening plans include a wide range of health and safety measures that adhere to the CinemaSafe protocol and guidelines. Guests will be required to wear a face mask at all times while in the theater lobby, auditoriums and restrooms.

Zach Martinez spent the past nine months waiting to do something “not normal.” So he stood in a nearly empty parking lot in 30-degree weather, collecting donations to help bring a sense of normalcy for families in need. That felt like a step in the right direction, he said. Martinez, a junior at Santa Fe High, was among several members of the football program taking part in a donation drive to collect food, clothing, gift cards and money that will go to families in need during the holidays. While the group is trying to help the less fortunate, Martinez said this simple act of community service also is bringing much-needed joy for those in the football program.
