Ontario pet detective Rob MacCarthur says the theft of baby goat Juniper from Toronto’s Riverdale Farm is likely just “a prank.”
The 59-year-old MacCarthur, based in Hamilton Township on Rice Lake, said he believes someone took the three-month-old goat from its pen at Toronto’s Riverdale Farm, sometime between 5:30 p.m. last Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday, according to police, because they were “bored.”

“Who would want to steal a goat?” said MacCarthur, who has been looking for people’s lost animals everything from dogs to reptiles as a volunteer since 2014, including with the Missing Animal Response Network. ....

Toronto police continue to search for a three-month-old goat named Juniper that was stolen from a Toronto farm last week.
Investigators believe Juniper was stolen from her pen at Riverdale Farm sometime between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday.
We re hoping that we re going to get resolution to this, said Constable Ed Parks, who added that police have yet to make a break in the case. We re all trying to find where Juniper is, is Juniper still in the city, what individuals took Juniper, why did they take Juniper, we ve exhausted all of that.
Staff at the farm told police the goat would not leave the pen without her mother and would have likely cried out during the incident. ....

Baby goat likely terrified when it was taken from Toronto's Riverdale Farm: police

Police say they are on the lookout for a small goat named Juniper who was taken from Riverdale Farm in Toronto’s Cabbagetown neighbourhood this week.
Police say that at sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and 7 a.m. on Thursday, one or possibly more suspects broke into an enclosure at Riverdale Farm, off of Winchester Street.
“The suspect or suspects entered a pen within the farm and stole the 3-month-old Nubian goat named Juniper,” police said Friday.
Const. Ed Parks told CP24 there is third-party security present at the farm overnight, but they did not detect the break-in. ....

Toronto police investigate after baby goat allegedly stolen during break-and-enter

Police are investigating after a three-month-old goat was stolen from a Toronto farm during a break-and-enter.
The female goat, named Juniper, was stolen between the hours of 5:30 p.m. on May 5 and 7 a.m. on May 6 from Riverdale Farm, police say.
Police said the suspect, or suspects, entered the pen and stole the goat, but left its identical twin sibling named Justine unharmed. 
“Riverdale Farm staff are understandably upset and are extremely concerned about Juniper,” police said. We d urge anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact us immediately so we can find her and safely return her to the farm. ....
