Darwin's Mix 104.9 'reshaping' Breakfast show

Grant Broadcasters’ Mix 104.9 has revealed it is “reshaping” its Breakfast show.
To assist with the transformation, it is seeking an announcer with at least three years of on-air experience.
“This is a rare opportunity to be part of a ratings winning show, currently Darwin’s #1 35+ and we expect you to grow that audience with a survey this year,” Grant Broadcasters said.
The show was previously helmed by Ali Burton and Greg Vincent.
Vincent stepped down at the end of last year.
Burton has been absent from the airwaves recently, however remains a part of the program. Grant Broadcasters told
Radio Today she was on personal leave and they were unsure when she would return. ....

Natalie 'Herbie' Herbstreit joins K rock Drive program

Natalie ‘Herbie’ Herbstreit will join Josh Jeans for K rock 95.5’s Drive show in Geelong.
Herbstreit started her radio career with Grant Broadcasters in Port Augusta, but subsequently moved to Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) to broadcast across the Riverina and Goulburn Valley.
Herbstreit could barely contain her excitement at being back behind the microphone.
“I’m absolutely leaping over the full moon to be joining the K rock family,” she said. “Working in Geelong has always been a dream of mine, so I can’t wait to see what content Josh and I can create.”
Grant Broadcasters’ group content director, Ryan Rathbone, said he’s looking forward to what the duo can achieve under the leadership of newly appointed regional content director Barry Keohane. ....

Grant Broadcasters on the hunt for regional content director as Mark Hyland joins bay93.9 Breakfast

Grant Broadcasters is seeking a regional content director for Victoria and South Australia to replace Mark Hyland.
Hyland is returning to the airwaves alongside Lisa ‘Milly’ Millard as part of the bay93.9 Breakfast show from March as well as hanging onto his content director role for the station.
Hyland’s replacement will be based in Geelong, Victoria and will be responsible for ensuring the local content directors are executing the stations’ and network’s programming strategy. This will include oversight of all programming activities including content, marketing/ audience tactics, staffing, localism strategies, training, system usage, reporting, compliance and recruitment.
“You will be expected to drive a positive winning programming culture that values people,” the job ad explains, “whilst taking a strong operational leadership role delivering growing levels of audience and audience engagement.” ....

'Don't be a dick': Ryan Rathbone's advice for surviving in radio

If you want to have longevity in radio, you need to watch your attitude, because “you won’t last that long if you’re a bit of a dick”, Grant Broadcasters’ group content director, Ryan Rathbone, has said.
He pointed to ‘Ugly Phil’ – aka Phil O’Neill – who has just returned to local radio after an extended and varied career to take on Mornings at Australian Radio Network’s (ARN) WSFM in Sydney, as an example of someone who has found long-term success in the space.
And given the year the sector has experienced, Rathbone said radio employees need to learn how to handle, and move on from, a redundancy, without causing a scene of behaving badly. ....
