CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - What started as building websites for only 12 businesses in Charlottesville and Albemarle County is now expanding to close to 100 websites all throughout central Virginia.
“Includes City of Charlottesville, counties of Albemarle, Green, Orange, Louisa Fluvanna, Nelson, Rappahannock, Madison and Culpeper,” Central Virginia Small Business Development Center Director Rebecca Haydock said.
Haydock says funding from the GO Virginia grant is allowing for this program to expand, with the same goal of taking businesses to the next step. ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The impacts of the American Rescue Plan will soon be hitting wallets and bank accounts across central Virginia.
In Charlottesville, and all throughout central Virginia, this COVID-19 relief plan will have a huge impact on families struggling as the pandemic continues. It could also help businesses gain back some of their losses.

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) now allows certain eligible borrowers that previously received a loan to apply for a Second Draw PPP Loan with the same general loan terms.
A borrower is generally eligible for a Second Draw PPP Loan if he or she:
Previously received a First Draw PPP Loan and will or has used the full amount only for authorized uses
Has no more than 300 employees; and
Can demonstrate at least a 25% reduction in gross receipts between comparable quarters in 2019 and 2020 ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The University of Virginia and the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center are partnering to facilitate a community project-based learning program called Propel.
Propel aims to address a wide range of business and technology problems, including market entry, marketing strategy, and financial analysis. The initiative engages UVA student teams to support real-world project challenges faced by local small businesses, start-ups, and nonprofit organizations.
“The students get real-world experience, course credit, They get to know businesses in the surrounding community, and solve problems, offer good solutions, and the businesses are getting access to this solutions,” SBDC Director Reb ....
