On the market: Homes with a kid-friendly backyard sell quicker and for more, says Zillow Updated 8:36 AM; Home shoppers are willing to pay extra for a decked-out, outdoor entertaining space, especially if there’s a treehouse, pool or hot tub in the backyard, according to a study by real estate marketplace Zillow released ahead of Mother’s Day. “The hottest kid-friendly home features are attracting buyers and driving quicker home sales and higher prices,” state Zillow analysts. A residential property mentioning a backyard sold 5.2 days faster than expected, followed by listings with a sandbox (4.5 days less than expected) and a home with a playground found a buyer 2.5 days quicker, even in highly competitive markets, the study found. ....
Times-News journalists win awards in NC Press Association contest From staff reports The North Carolina Press Association presented the Times-News with writing and photography awards Friday during its live-streamed annual convention in Raleigh. Winners of the association’s 2020 News, Editorial and Photojournalism Contest were recognized for work published from October 2019 through Sept. 30, 2020. Out-of-state judges selected the winners. Sports Editor Dean Hensley took first place in the Video category for A Farewell to the Old Gym Planned at Hendersonville High. News reporter Rebecca Walter won second place in Business Writing for her article, Housing market adapts during COVID-19 changes. Former staff photographer Patrick Sullivan took third place in Feature Photography for his photo gallery, 14th annual DuPont Rescue Experience. ....
Jabil Healthcare bringing 150 jobs, $38M investment to East Flat Rock Rebecca Walter Henderson County has landed a $38 million investment with the addition of a manufacturing facility for Jabil Healthcare, a division of Jabil Inc., the largest global manufacturing solutions provider in the health care industry. The 180,000-square-foot facility is set to open in East Flat Rock in January 2022. The investment is projected to create 150 jobs. The building will be constructed on about 19 acres of the 41-acre Garrison Lane property, which was recently purchased as part of a three-party agreement with Henderson County, the city of Hendersonvill and the Economic Investment Fund of Henderson County. ....
