FHN announces 2020 scholarship winners Journal Standard FREEPORT FHN Memorial Hospital recently announced the winners of its health care scholarships, diversity scholarship and volunteer services scholarship. The students wrote an essay about their career path in addition to their strengths and personal goals to support the healthcare needs of FHN’s service area. The top candidates were invited to a virtual interview with the committee. The committee chose three $1,000 health care scholarship recipients, one $1,000 diversity scholarship recipient and one $500 volunteer services scholarship recipient. The 2020 healthcare career scholarships winners include Rebecca Alexander of Chadwick, who is pursuing an occupational therapy degree at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa; Rebecca Ensor of Freeport, who is pursuing an occupational therapy degree at Allen College in Waterloo, Iowa; and Hanna Miner of Pecatonica, who is pursuing a sonography degree at ....
Washington County commissioners are being asked to lend their voices to calls for the state to return a vital historic document to Jonesborough, as well as approve a key payment-in-lieu agreement with an existing county manufacturer at their meeting today. Commissioners, who will meet electronically at 6 p.m., are also expected to vote on a resolution expressing Washington Countyâs support of an ongoing state lawsuit against three named manufacturers of prescription opioid drugs. The resolution also names the county as an official plaintiff in the lawsuit and specifies that 1st Judicial District Attorney General Ken Baldwin will continue as the countyâs lawyer in the case. ....
State Sen. Jon Lundberg, R-Bristol, has been named deputy speaker of the Tennessee Senate. Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, R-Oak Ridge, also named the 4th District senator as a member of the powerful Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee. Lundberg will continue to serve as first vice chair of Senate Education Committee, and as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He represents parts of Carter, Johnson and Sullivan counties. State Sen. Jon Lundberg, R-Bristol. McNally has also re-appointed state Sen. Rusty Crowe, R-Johnson City, as chairman of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee.
