The grant will provide funding to the Foundation for the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation, a supporting organization of the Uptown Reinvestment Corporation, for the redevelopment of the former 1st Source Servall Appliance Parts building at 630 W. Kearsley St. in Flint, according to a press release from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. ....
There’s talk of a major investment in Flint Community Schools. But at this point, it’s still just talk. Flint public schools have been caught in a downward spiral for years, declining enrollment fueled by aging buildings. But key players in Flint have been talking behind the scenes about a plan to build new schools. Those talks have produced a draft “Memorandum of Understanding” that outlines a plan to build new school buildings, including a replacement for the former Flint Central High School. The plan also includes money for addition educational resources. The plan’s price tag is pegged at $340 million dollars. ....

The two-year grant with $500,000 distributed in 2021 and $500,000 in 2022 will allow the YMCA to continue to serve residents through its downtown Flint and Pierson Road facilities, as well as Camp Copneconic in Mundy Township, while planning for long-term sustainability. ....
Mott Foundation Grant Will Provide Meals For Flint Covid Vaccine Volunteers The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation announced a grant yesterday to help the people volunteering at Covid Vaccine sites in Flint. The $50,000 grant has been given to the Genesee Chamber Foundation to provide meals to the volunteers working at Covid vaccine sites. The grant money is aimed at rewarding the hard working frontline healthcare workers, but the money will help others in Genesee County as well.
