RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The city of Richmond, Virginia Union University and the Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority entered into a 20-year partnership to help support the Gilpin Community.
The first part of the partnership between the city, VUU and the community will feature STEM programming targeted to 6th-8th graders, mentoring and workforce development and training programs.
“Each of these priority areas was identified in partnership with residents to help determine and advocate for meaningful support and programming and will serve as the foundational programming for VUU’s soon-to-be established Center for Human and Family Empowerment,” a release said. ....

RICHMOND, Va. Virginia Union University (VUU) plans to make an impact on the lives of those living in nearby Gilpin Court.
The university, along with the City of Richmond, and the Richmond Redevelopment & Housing Authority (RRHA) announced Monday a 20-year partnership that will provide educational mentoring, workforce development, and training on how to make and save money.
The housing authority will help identify and enroll young residents for mentorship and educational and training opportunities, a statement from the city read. In addition, it will also identify heads of households and young adults for the workforce and leadership training both within and outside of Virginia Union. RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority is holding two meetings on April 28 to update the community on the rebuilding of Creighton Court.
There are three ways to join in on the meetings at 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday.
In-person meetings will be held at Creighton Court Recreation Center at 2101 Creighton Rd. (10 person limit), and Armstrong Renaissance Community Room at 1665 N 31st St. (10 person limit).
