AZ Boy Chavez pleads guilty in 2009 double murder
Joe D. Chavez, Jr., 51 of Alamogordo, pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree murder at a May 18 plea hearing for his part as an accessory to a 2009 double-murder on Montlake Terrace. 
On July 5, 2009, the then-Alamogordo Department of Public Safety was dispatched to 600 block of Montlake Terrace in reference to two people shot.
Max Griego, Jr., 27, who was killed during an attempted kidnapping and Mary Hudson Gutierrez, 34, who was killed during an attempted burglary had been shot in the head. A third person, Hudson Gutierrez, was still alive when she was found.  ....

Del Mar Fairgrounds officials provided additional details this week about Homegrown Fun, a scaled-down version of the annual county fair that the state-owned venue will hold to better comply with COVID-19 public health restrictions.
Katie Mueller, the chief business services officer at the fairgrounds, told the fairgrounds’ board of directors April 13 that the event “will be following all county and state public health guidelines.” It runs from June 11 to July 4.
“It is limited capacity so all admission tickets and parking passes will be sold online only, not on site,” Mueller said. ....

APS High School To Close Due To COVID-19 Cases –

Eldorado High School in Albuquerque is closing for two weeks after several students tested positive for COVID-19.
Albuquerque Public Schools sent a letter to families and staff informing them that the campus will close and switch to remote learning following a closure order from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
The letter notes the department requires schools to close within 7 days of multiple positive cases. APS says all but one of the positive cases at Eldorado was apparently contracted off the campus.
The letter says students and staff who had contact with those who tested positive will be notified and should quarantine for 10 days as required by the Department of Health. ....
