Lee Student Receives 2021 Goldwater Scholarship Thursday, April 15, 2021 - by Mattie Thomas, Lee University Japheth Varlack Japheth Varlack, a senior mathematics major with music and computer science minors at Lee University, has received the national Goldwater Scholarship, awarded to college students who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. From an estimated pool of over 5,000 college students, 1,256 natural science, engineering, and mathematics students were nominated by 438 academic institutions across the United States to compete for one of the 410 Goldwater scholarships awarded this year.
