MORRISBURG – Provincial police have charged the driver of a vehicle that collided with a transport truck on Highway 401 this summer, killing their passenger from Cornwall.
Police announced Monday that 20-year-old Taisha Martell of Cornwall is facing charges of criminal negligence causing death and impaired driving causing death.
She is also charged with driving with open alcohol in the vehicle under the Liquor Licence Act and a Highway Traffic Act charge of being a novice driver without a blood-alcohol reading of zero.
Martell will make a court appearance by video in Cornwall on Monday, Dec. 28.
Richard Hesse-Andre, 22, of Cornwall died June 18, 2020 when a car he was a passenger in collided with a truck in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 between Dickinson Drive and Upper Canada Road, east of Morrisburg.
Cornwall Woman Facing Charges Following Fatal Crash With Tractor Trailer

Police are charging a woman following a two-car-collision back in June that resulted in the death of a man from Cornwall.
On June 18, officers from the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP responded to the collision between Dickinson Road and Upper Canada Road in South Dundas, just before 5 p.m. on Highway 401.
Police say the crash saw a car going westbound collided with a westbound tractor trailer along the highway.
The passenger in the car, 22-year-old Richard Hesse-Andre of Cornwal was pronounced dead at the scene.
