Footpath closed A RIVERSIDE footpath in Monmouthshire has been closed as a matter of emergency following an increase in the number of walkers straying into a neighbouring firing range. Monmouthshire County Council has recently issued the emergency closure of the Severnside Range footpath, close to the Severn near Caldicot. The closure has been made on health and safety grounds following an increasing number of walkers not keeping to the designated path and walking on top of the sea wall, straying into the neighbouring privately-run firing range, putting themselves in danger. “The Severnside Range footpath poses many complex challenges,” said Councillor Richard John, Cabinet Member for Monlife. ....
