A Life Well Lived Jeanne is survived by her loving spouse of 46 years, Niki Muller, her two daughters, Hannerle Moore and Deborah Rybak, and granddaughter, Carlie Luong. She first arrived in Manatee County in 1956 and moved to the Village of Longboat Key. Jeanne will always be remembered for a life of caring and service, her wonderful sense of humor and her musical gifts. Jeanne was born in Melbourne, Australia, to an Irish mother and a Scottish father who met in India while both were working on the staff of Lord Louis Mountbatten. They married and then chose to honeymoon in the Himalayas. Her mother returned to Australia for the birth of her daughter and so she could be baptized in the Presbyterian Church. When Jeanne was 4 months old, she returned to New Delhi, India, with her mother and was cared for by an Indian nanny. Her mother worked throughout her career for Ml6 as a secret agent in India, China and Singapore, and her father was a structural engineer who desi ....

The most striking painting in Paul Emory’s new collection, on view in the Sharon Weiss Gallery in the Short North, is “Old Town Toaster,” a huge picture of a metal toaster with a slice of bread popping out the top and buildings of downtown Zanesville, the artist’s home, reflected in the appliance’s shiny surface. In addition to being fun and whimsical, the painting encapsulates the style of the 62-year-old artist who has been making art since he was a boy. Emory enjoys taking figures and scenes from real life and bending them to fit his expressionistic vision. In his artist statement, he writes that he “paints places he has never been and people he has never met.” ....

The Mysteries of the Pink Castle takes place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1, and includes a tour, lecture, concert and book signing. Built in 1922, The Pink Castle was designed by sculptor C. Adrian Pillars as his own home and studio. Pillars lived in St. Augustine from about 1919 to 1932 before teaching at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota. Pillar’s most famous work is the statue of Winged Victory in Jacksonville’s Memorial Park. The sculpture of a bronze winged youth rising above a globe is entitled Life, which is also the name of a new biography by historian and author, Dr. Wayne Wood. ....
