May 10, 2021 By Mike Kruzman / [email protected] Brighton City Council members have approved a site plan for a large office building that many feel will be a great addition to the city. Creative Construction Concepts will be a building development company that does research on new prototypes and techniques in construction, largely for brick and mortar business. It will be located on a 6-acre lot off of Rickett Road, near Sisu Knoll Drive. The site plan was originally part of the City Councilâs consent agenda. Councilman Jim Bohn, believing in it, asked that it be pulled to the regular agenda so that the rest of the Council could hear about the project. ....
April 3, 2021 By Jessica Mathews / [email protected] The Green Oak Township Planning Commission met virtually Thursday night and voted to recommend approval of a needed rezoning for a proposed apartment complex project. The Commission recommended approval from research office and limited industrial to residential multiple family conditional rezoning of a vacant parcel located on the south side off Maltby Road between Whitmore Lake Road and Rickett Road for The Parc at Green Oak. Two members were absent and no comments were made by the public. The request is being petitioned by Vector Development and it was stated that representatives have been before the Commission several times and have indicated theyâll comply with all zoning requirements. ....
January 25, 2021 A Brighton roadway will be completely rebuilt thanks to a state grant funding. The Michigan Department of Transportation announced today that it is awarding a state Transportation Economic Development Fund Category F grant of $375,000 to the City of Brighton to rebuild Rickett Road from the railroad tracks north of Sisu Knoll Drive to the city limits south of Oak Ridge Drive. Gov. Whitmer said the grant was a fulfillment of her pledge to invest more in the stateâs roads. âToday, Iâm proud to announce a transportation economic development grant that will help the City of Brighton rebuild an important corridor in the community. Road projects like this connect workers to jobs and provide important links for our communities. We must do more to fix our roads and I stand ready to work with anyone willing to get the job done.â ....
January 8, 2021 By Mike Kruzman & Jon King / [email protected] City of Brighton officials have authorized capital improvement bonds that will fund several categories of street and utility projects starting later this year, and then continuing over a three-year period. At City Councilâs online meeting, held Thursday night, City Council members approved the authorization of bonds for an amount not to exceed $18-million. Five major projects were identified; the Northwest Neighborhoods Streets project, Rickett Road Phase 2, water utilities, wastewater utilities, and capital reserve projects that include replacing the police department and DPW drive and lot. The total cost of the bond program is just over $17.4-million. ....
