As everyone gathered after the liturgy ended, Deacon Jim Myers approached him and said, “I think you have what it takes to be an outstanding deacon.” “That was amazing, he saw something in me that I didn t see in myself,” Major said. Major understood the seriousness of what becoming a deacon meant: not just a five-year commitment to formation, but a lifetime of service to the church, and through Holy Orders, “joining the apostolic tradition.”

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. â As we waited to hear the verdict of the trial against Derek Chauvin, 23ABC was in downtown Bakersfield with what our local African American leaders were saying Tuesday night as well as other Kern County residents.
There were a lot of emotional reactions to the guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin including here in Kern County but most are using that emotion as motivation moving forward.

In early 2016 Ricardo Escobar (lead guitar) and Antonio Valdés (bass) arrived in Finland, finally realising their dream of moving to Finland to make metal music. By this point they had been working on a band project that would become
ULTHIMA for 6 years, first in Mexico and then a couple years in France. In Finland they went through several candidates, before finally establishing a stable lineup in late 2018 with Jon Welti on rhythm guitar, Niko Sutinen on keys, Ville Nummisalo on drums and Tuomas Antila on vocals. Last year Ulthima recorded their debut album out of material that has been in the making since the early days of the band in Mexico.
