Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew says the club is open to trading out draft picks if it helped them land the right player in this yearâs trade period.
The Suns, who currently hold a first-round selection â pick No.5 â and two second-round picks in this yearâs draft, would be prepared to sacrifice draft capital if it helped them acquire an experienced player to complement their crop of youngsters.

The 2021 mid-season rookie draft has added a dimension of intrigue to the annual recruitment calendar, with 22 undrafted and mature aged players getting an unexpected AFL lifeline.
However, unlike the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP), where five of the 11 players taken were recycled past players, the mid-season draft yielded 21 previously undrafted players and only one delisted player who had previously been drafted as a mature aged player.

Jarrod Witts has been a solid performer for the Suns ever since his Round 1 debut in 2018, winning a year-long ruck battle with fellow ruck journeymen, Dan Currie and Keegan Brooksby.

Tom Winter (pictured) scored twice as Town’s U18s beat Brentford 2-0 at their Jersey Road training ground this morning.
The striker, who is one of the five second-year scholars to have been offered a one-year professional contract, put the Blues in front from the penalty spot in the 10th minute after Republic of Ireland U16 international Cemal Ramadan had been brought down by the keeper.
Prior to the goal, the Blues had already threatened to go in front on a couple of occasions, central defender Omar Sowunmi having a chance with a close range header and then Winter chipping a shot just wide of the far post having been put through by Cory Galvin

The 2021 AFL season is just around the corner. With that, comes expectation.
Whether your club is a contender for the ultimate prize or a kitchen utensil, we all have a level of excitement driven by what we want to see out of our clubs.
Global conditions indicate that we will see the AFL season clouded by a level of uncertainty in 2021, but with a return to full-length games and hopefully, nationally functional fixturing, we can focus on the on-field narratives.
