Even after restrictions began to let up, finding an open venue with a stage big enough to fit a 6-piece rock and roll band proved difficult. “There’s not many places to play for our style band,” Humphrey said. Then came Joe Smith and The Junkyard, a monthly open mic event hosted at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre. Alter Ego was more than glad to be a part of it. ....

A major incident was declared in Cheshire in January after Storm Christoph caused heavy rainfall and residents in Northwich, Winsford, Chester, Tattenhall, and Warrington were evacuated from their homes. Police and crime commissioner David Keane has awarded emergency funding to groups supporting residents who have been affected, with grants of up to £1,000. The latest groups to benefit are Ashton Hayes and Horton-cum-Peel Parish Council, and Bollington Mill Management Company, who will use the funding to provide emergency food and clothing to families who were evacuated from their homes in Northwich and have not yet been able to return. ....
