Nikolaj Ehlers scored his second goal of the game 9:13 into overtime to lift Winnipeg past Edmonton 5-4 Sunday night at Bell MTS Place. It was Ehler’s first game back since he suffered an upper body injury on April 24 in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Mathieu Perreault, Blake Wheeler and Josh Morrissey also scored for the Jets who rallied from a 4-1 third period deficit to force overtime.

Local Journalism Initiative Reporter Mayor Libby Clarke began Crokinole game nights in Tudor and Cashel Township back in 2016. While the COVID-19 pandemic and its restrictions have put a stop to this recreational activity over the past year or so, Clarke and everyone involved is hopeful that once the pandemic is under control, they may be able to resume these game nights they’ve become so fond of. Clarke says she began and has hosted Crokinole in the township on the last Monday of every month for the past several years, excluding the past year or so with COVID-19 of course. Oddly enough, Clarke says she may be the worst Crokinole player in the crowd.

(Ray Peters) Article continues below advertisement ↴ The Winnipeg Jets scored five unanswered goals and defeated the Montreal Canadiens 6-3 Thursday night at Bell MTS Place. Kyle Connor had a pair of goals for the Jets who extended their winning streak to three games. Blake Wheeler, Nate Thompson, Pierre Luc Dubois and Mark Scheifele also scored for Winnipeg. Scheifele has found the back of the net in six straight games. Former Jets forward Joel Armia had a pair of first period goals for the Canadiens. Connor scored his first of the night at 5:37 of the second period.
