Christian Swezey is the author of a forthcoming book on Cornell lacrosse in the 1970s, tentatively titled: We Showed Baltimore: Richie Moran’s Big Red and the Lacrosse Revolution of the 1970s CORNELL ENTERED THE 1971 season with a mishmash of a starting lineup. A pair of starting attackmen senior attackman Al Rimmer, the leading scorer in the Ivy League the previous year, and junior Frank Davis had not played high school lacrosse, though both exceled in box lacrosse. Senior defenseman John Burnap, recruited to Cornell as a tight end for the football team, had not played lacrosse at all before arriving in Ithaca. He found his way to the tryout for the freshman lacrosse team in the spring of 1968 at the behest of his older brother, who urged him to avoid the drudgery of spring football practice at all cost. ....

Another Syracuse lacrosse season ending in an unceremonious thud. This time at the hands of hated Georgetown in embarrassing fashion. For the third straight tournament, never mind the goal of Memorial Day with a trophy or bust, it’s not even a trip to the quarterfinal in the cards. A senior student at Syracuse has gone their whole college life without even getting a quarterfinal men’s lacrosse game with the Orange in it. At least there’s the women’s team with a good shot at making Memorial Day Sunday, and if they fall short they get their injured stars back for another run next year. ....

We’re a selfie studio where you take your own pictures and videos, said Glenda Simmons, co-owner of Selfie Studio ROC. It’s a concept Glenda and Roy Simmons III saw on a trip to Florida. The couple brought the idea back to Rochester, made it their own and opened Selfie Studio ROC in The Mall at Greece Ridge. ....
