Washington city administrator retires after just 2 years


WASHINGTON  City Administrator Ray Forsythe retired for personal reasons Friday, less than three weeks after informing city staff and elected officials about his decision.
He was the city s highest-paid employee, with an annual salary of $133,515 after receiving a 3.5% pay raise last year. The city administrator oversees the day-to-day operations of the city.
Forsythe sent an email about his impending retirement to city staff and elected officials April 7, the day after the city election. He was on vacation from April 7 until Friday.
Before coming to Washington, Forsythe served as planning and development director in Moline for 14 years.
HIs employment in Washington was hailed by city officials primarily because of his expertise in economic development. ....
