WFXB June 28, 2021 A woman has been charged after an inmate was found dead at the Robeson County Detention Center. According to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the body of 37 year old Harley Strickland was discovered around 5:15 a.m. in her cell after officers noticed she did not get out of bed to get breakfast. She was booked into the jail on Thursday for failure to appear in court. The investigation into her death led to 29 year old Arriel Locklear of Maxton to be charged with providing drugs to inmates and possession of a controlled substance on a jail or prison premise, she was given a $50,000 secured bond. Deputies said Locklear was previously arrested Thursday for a failure to appear warrant. The cause of death for Strickland will be determined following an autopsy. ....

(WMBF) – An arrest has been made in a case where authorities said a family dispute turned deadly. The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Nicoya Dial on Tuesday afternoon and charged him with voluntary manslaughter in Neil Locklear’s shooting death. Deputies were called to a shooting early Monday morning on Lewis McNeill Road in Red Springs. Locklear was found with injuries and was taken to the hospital where he died as soon as he arrived to McLeod Medical Center in Florence, according to investigators. ....

The man charged with killing a Manheim woman when he shot into a moving car on I-95 in North Carolina last month has been denied bail and will remain in jail. Robeson County Chief District Court Judge Angelica Chavis McIntyre denied Dejywan Floyd s request for bail at a brief court hearing Thursday morning. She also told Floyd he could face the death penalty. She also appointed a public defender for Floyd. He had previously indicated his sister was going to hire an attorney, but he told McIntyre that she was in hospital.
